Names On A Wall

Joint project by Tanya Brittain and The Lost Gardens of Heligan sees the production of a Cornish EP to commemorate the fallen soldiers of World War 1.

The EP, which was recorded in Cornwall, was released on Armistice Day 2016 in a year that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

Written and recorded by Tanya Brittain and Sam Kelly of award-winning Cornwall-based folk collective The Changing Room, the EP’s final track will be sung in Cornish. Tanya’s poignant and well-crafted lyric writing and BBC Folk Award winner Sam Kelly’s stunning vocals perfectly capture the essence and mood of the story.

Hey Human

I was commissioned to write a piece of choral music for a children’s choir for a climate change project devised by Re-Imagine Kernow and Sing! Eden. The aim of the project was to use the power of collective singing to engage a new generation and to give young people a voice. For this project I wrote a song called Hey Human which looks at the effect. of climate change from. the perspective of animals, birds and sea creatures and is one of the songs selected for 7 Songs for G7, part of Cornwall Council's Educational offer to support the G7 Summit. Featuring the voices of children from Marazion School and Stoke Climsland School in Cornwall, the song explores the effect of climate change from the perspective of Cornwall’s marine wildlife, birds and land animals.
